School...what's best for us?

I know some of you are going to think that I'm thinking about this way too early...but we're literally 10 months away from having to register Claire Bear for kinder.  Time has gone by way too fast...I get teary-eyed thinking about it...especially since pics of her entire  life are popping up on my computer as I write this!

So my reason for writing...I want to hear your opinions.  Some of you know what my heart's desire is for schooling our little lady, but I want to know what you've chosen for your own kids and why.  We are  really open to everything right now...public, charter, private, Christian, home...wow, so many options.  Clearly we don't know exactly where we'll be in life for Fall 2013 (it all depends on Steve's work), so we may not be able to do just any of these options...BUT I just want to hear what you've done, why, and how it's worked for your family.

I got some advice from a sweet friend a couple years ago.  Actually, I don't think she was intending to give me advice, but I haven't forgotten it, so I'll say it was some of the best advice I've received.  She told me that each year before the school year began, she prayed and asked the Lord specifically what He wanted for her kids for THAT school year, not for their entire schooling career.  I know she's done a bit of everything...home, public, charter, etc.  I love that she specifically asked the Lord and never just assumed He wanted one thing for their family.  And I love that she prayed for each child individually, never assuming God planned the SAME thing for everyone.  Thanks Lynette...I'll always remember that, and I intend to do the same thing with my children!!

  1. Brilliant advice! Every kid is different. Every year is different. Every phase of their life is different, which makes their needs for that time different. I know starting school seems huge...and it doesn't change with the next kid. I probably was a bit more freaked out when Katelyn started, so I guess it does get easier.

I don't think you are crazy for thinking about this now. Of course..I was praying for Jake's wife the other day when I watched my kids playing on the playground. So...who's crazy now? :)

I will be praying for you guys as you make these choices for sweet Claire. And remember...you can always change plans at any time. So even if you make a choice and feel God's plan is leading you another way...you can always change directions...even during the school year.
