Color Run San Diego

So today my little sis and I "ran" in the Color Run 5K at Qualcomm Stadium.  SO FUN!!  If you ever have the chance to sign up, DO IT!!  It seriously was the least competitive thing I was expecting.  Don't get me wrong, I love to compete, but not with anything that has to do with running.  Because seriously....

So our philosophy was that we would run at the Start, run through the Finish, and run any time we saw any photographers!  And that's exactly what we did.

We had such a fun time!  I want to do another one...but with Claire, Steve, and Chris next time.  And maybe next time we'll run the entire thing...maybe.

Friday's Letters

Dear Gramma...thanks for letting us stay at your house last week before we could move into our new home.  Your home will always be more home to me than anywhere else I could ever live.

Dear High School Friends...I love that we still  hang out, laugh, and have so much fun celebrating each other even 16 years after graduation.  I love you all.

Dear Pauma Valley...thank you for being so beautiful.  I love driving to you to go to my family's farm.  You've been so good to 5 generations of us and I'm grateful.

Dear Asher...you are an awesome baseball player...although we knew you would be from the time you were about 1 year old.

Dear Cousins...thank you for getting along so well.  I love watching you all hang out together.

Dear Del Mar/Pacifica Cafe...thanks for the amazing views and gorgeous weather.  My sis and I had fun catching up in your sunshine and the food was amazing too.  I'll be back soon.

Dear Mom...I'm so thankful for the way you do ministry with Dad.  I know there have been some tough years, but overall, the fruit of your labor and sacrifices have changed many lives for Jesus.  I'm so proud that you're my Mom and am praying for you right now while you're on your way to Ecuador.  Thank you for loving me and my little family the way you do.

Dear Katie...I know I was your third choice since Dad was busy and your hubs was out of town, but thanks for choosing me to be the one to take you to purchase your first car!!  It's super cute...and you didn't even stall!!  You've wanted Pippa for 3 years now and I'm so glad you finally got her!!

Dear New Home...I did not enjoy the process of moving into you, but each day as we get more and more settled, I like you more...I may even start to love you soon.

Friday's Letters

Dear Gail...thanks for 8 years of friendship...which has included countless trips to Disneyland, singing JT songs at the top of our lungs, dancing, Boston, and Ethiopia...to name a few highlights.  Now in just 155 days we get to celebrate one of the best days of your life....your wedding day!!  I am so honored and can't wait to see what God does through your marriage.  Here's to more travels and many more years of friendship!!

Dear Auntie Holls...thank you for doing Claire's hair all cute and sassy.  She loves it and I'm grateful for less tangles!!  Thanks also for cutting my hair all cute and sassy today!!  I love it and am thankful for how easy it will be!!

Dear House...I will miss you and all the fun walking trails around you.  I'm sad to pack up and move out of you, but you've been an awesome house for the last 1.5 years.  The Lord definitely did great things in our lives while we've lived here and I'm super thankful!!

Dear Super Bowl...thanks for the entertainment...especially Beyonce....but mostly thank you for putting my daughter to sleep early for once!!

Dear Claire...thank you for being so brave this week!  Normally you're not, so I was so proud to see you jump from Daddy's dresser to the bed...all on your own with out much encouragement!  Yea girl!  However...I've maybe given you some bad ideas...Grammy said you climbed on top of Popper's truck while you were there the other day...oops!!

Dear Dad...thanks for being so amazing with my girl!  She loves you like crazy!!  However, you had her a little worried the other day...when you said, "Whoever doesn't have the cutest hair after Holly cuts it has to buy In-N-Out."  She was so concerned that she didn't have any money!!  Oh well...the cute hat and milkshake (that eventually ended up all over her face and body) made up for the anxiety you caused!!

{thankful} for sisters

Today I'm super especially thankful for my sisters.  Some of you know that one of my sisters is also my sister-in-law...yep...we married brothers.  But I will always be able to say she copied me.  So glad she did.  Anyway...we all live within 20 minutes of each other, but our work schedules are so opposite of each other that we don't spend a lot of time together "just the 3 of us."  We're trying to change that and really make it a priority...because when we do hang out, we have SO.MUCH.FUN.  So a few weeks ago we went paddle boarding together.  We bought a Groupon and made a plan.  We met for coffee and drove together to Carlsbad Lagoon...the day couldn't have been any prettier...clear skies, perfect temp, water was warm.

this is me before I fell in...yep...i did...the instructor said he's had like 1 person fall...now he's had 2.

I'm so thankful God gave me these 2 as my little sisters.  And I'm SO THANKFUL we like to be with each other.  I will probably always boss them around as their big sis, and we will probably always argue over dumb stuff, and call each other names...but we know we will always be there for each other.  For anything.  At anytime.  I love that.  And seriously...I'm ready to be an auntie.

family vacation

We just got back from our favorite place to go on family vacation...Yosemite.  My extended family has been going there since I was 12 years old...wow...that's 21 years!  We love going there for so many reasons, but mostly because it's such a fun week spent with our amazing family and friends.  When in Yosemite....

...we ride the train...

....have picnics....

....spend time with mommy...

...play in tents....

...check our email at Curry Village...

...play in the dirt...

..eat ice cream in our jammies late at night...

...hang out with family in the campsite...

...go for bike rides...

...get free coffee at the Ahwahnee...

....watch those who attempt the slack line...

...play games & make foil dinners...

...hang out with Auntie Holla & Uncle Drewie...

....make silly faces with Uncle Chrissy Wolsty...

....assign seats in order to sit by "the boy I love"...

...swim in the river...

...eat marshmallows at bedtime...

...finally take a nap on the long ride home...

...so beautiful...can't wait to go back!

Happy Valentiny!

I love Valentine's Day...I always remember my Mom doing special things for my sister's and me.  My favorite were the delicious cookies she would make...yum!  When I was in college, my friends and I would always dress up and take pictures together.  Steve and I had our first official date on Valentine's in 2002.  I love this day of love!  Now that Claire Bear is 3, Valentine's Day takes on a whole new meaning.  For her party at preschool, I decided I wanted to make Valentine's to give to her friends, not just buy a standard pack of Barbie or princess cards.  I wish I could take credit for coming up with this idea, but I didn't...found it on the blog of someone way more creative than I am!
I emptied 20 matchboxes...if anyone needs 600 matches let me know!
I went to Micheal's and JoAnn's and picked out scrapbook paper to wrap around the boxes.  They didn't have a very big selection of Valentine or heart paper, I was kinda disappointed, but it was still fun picking it out.  I also picked up fun ribbon to tie around the boxes.
Here are the boxes after phase one...all wrapped up!
And...the finished product.  I love how they turned out!  I filled them with pink, white, and red plain M&M's.
Claire and I had fun making all of our Valentine's for all of our favorite people!
My cute mini-Valentine!  She had so much fun passing out her Valentine's at school.  Of course she wanted to eat all her candy the minute I picked her up...she has such a sweet tooth!  Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!  Hope you have an extra LOVE-filled day!
